Linda Mucha Karns lives and works in the DFW area. She has always loved to draw and paint and began studying the figure in 2003. She retired from a long career in Information Technology to focus on her art. Her work has been displayed in numerous local, regional and national exhibits.
I create figurative works from life using loose, active marks. I try to describe what the model is doing with the initial gesture. Then more marks, as intuitively as possible, to capture the likeness, attitude and mood. If I don’t like a mark, I’ll just make another, often right over the earlier ones, continuing to build and revise, deciding which flaws to embrace and which to alter. I want the viewer to experience the beauty resulting from the struggle.
